So Ezra has been smiling for a couple weeks now and as you could imagine, I'm loving it! We only have one picture of it because I don't want to miss them by running for the camera. Sometimes he is really smiley in the middle of the night and it makes me not want to put him back to bed. I absolutely love his smile and I am going to miss it after they fix his lip.
Ezra has also been sleeping a little longer at night. Hooray! He usually goes for about a three hour stretch which has been really nice. I'm surprised at the difference between a two and a three hour stretch. Despite his improved night sleeping, Ezra is a terrible nap taker. I'm lucky if he will stay asleep for 15 minutes on most days. The only way to get him to take a longer nap is to take him in the car. It seems he would sleep forever in his car seat. I refuse to drive around to get him to sleep though. I don't mind the lack of naps, except it makes it really hard to get anything done. I'm including this video, even though it's probably not that exciting for you! Enjoy!

One month older and wiser too!
Ezra turned one month on Sunday and Bob and I had our own little photo shoot to show off how much he has grown. At his one month check up he weighed in at 9 lbs. and was 21.5 inches. The doctor was really impressed with how alert and strong he was.
I've been wanting to share a few little things about Ezra since most of you are not around to get to know him yourself. First off he has crazy hands. It reminds me of the claw from Liar Liar. It's as if he has no control or at least it's obvious he doesn't realize he has control over them. He constantly grabs at his face or gets his fingers stuck in his mouth. He probably thinks we are awful parents thinking that it's us torturing him. It's usually a pain when he is trying to "help" himself eat, or when he wakes himself up, or the fact that it is impossible to keep his hands wrapped in the blanket. I just can't wait to see what he does with them when he realizes they are his own hands.Ezra also hates being dirty, but what he hates more than that is having his bum changed. He screams the whole time until it is over, and there is no sense in trying to calm him. (Actually he has been a little better about it lately.) He also loves to stare at his dad. As if Bob needed his head to get any bigger over our little guy. He is also really smart and is forced to spend his awake time with mom learning. We practice our non-crying sounds, learn colors, objects and even letters. I know you think I'm silly, but just watch, he is going to be so smart! Well this post is getting a bit long so I will have to save the rest for another time.
P.S. We had Emily Russ take some family photos of us, so when we get them we will be sure to post them for you!

Party Animal!?
So we had our first appointment with the surgeon on new year's eve. The appointment actually wasn't very exciting (besides when he tried to pee on the nurse changing his diaper) but they did say that they might be able to eliminate one of the surgeries. They are going to put the latham device in during February and the doctor said that if it brings the tissues close enough together that they would do the lip repair in one surgery as opposed to two. They also weighed Ezra and he is 8lbs. 13oz.
After the doctor, Ezra was having a tough day. He was fussy most of the evening. The only thing that seemed to calm him down was a bottle. Apparently he knew it was new year's eve because he kept drinking, and drinking - a lot more than normal. Finally, he'd had enough and vomited all over himself, then proceeded to pass out! I think we're going to have to keep an eye on this little party guy!
We're not sure if this is from Christmas or not, but it's cute!
It's my first Christmas!
